~ What is Wholegarment? ~
日本生まれのニット技術
世界で初めての立体ニット技術「ホールガーメント」。
その技術を生み出したのは、日本です。
従来のニットは、袖や身頃など別々に編み立てていましたが
「ホールガーメント」は一着まるごと立体的に編み上げるため
SEAMLESS（シームレス）で、縫い代のごろつきがありません。
「ホールガーメント」とは、㈱島精機製作所が
独自で開発した世界初の無縫製ニット横編機によって作られた
“縫い目のない”ニットウェアです。
The world's first three-dimensional knitting WHOLEGARMENT was born in Japan.
It have no stiffness caused by the seams and the finished product has a beautiful silhouette, but also it minimizes the amount of thread and reduces the loss of excess fabrics when being cut.
手袋からセーターに。
ホールガーメントを開発した㈱島精機製作所。
当初は手袋編機も製造していました。
手袋編機はそれぞれ指・手のひらと筒状の袋編みになっています。
手首の部分を衿と考えると、セーターの形になるのではないかと
考えたのがホールガーメントの原型となりました。
この発想から、横編み機のメーカーとしての技術や、
テクニックを応用して様々な編み方を開発し
ホールガーメント編機が完成されました。
The hint of WHOLEGARMENT products was in the glove.
Turning the glove upside-down and joining the middle-three fingers to form the body,
with the pinky and thumb as the sleeves and the cuff portion as the collar, a tiny sweater is formed.

ホールガーメントでは、必要な時に
必要な製品を必要な数量だけ生産でき
「オンデマンド・ニッティング」が可能となります。
また、ホールガーメントの生産は全て
プログラム情報に基づいて編成されるので
製品の一貫性を保て、過去の製品をリピートすることも可能です。
Wholegarment machines can manufacture the required products in the required quantities when needed.
Furthermore, production on Wholegarment machines is almost entirely digital then more consistent product quality is also possible.
COMFY
ホールガーメントニットは、無縫製ニット横編機でつくられた
SEAMLESS（シームレス）なニットです。
そのため、縫い代によるごろつきがなくなり
肌なじみが良くシルエットの美しいニットと言われています。
また、縫製がないことでニット特有の伸縮性が保たれ、動きやすさにもつながります。
Conventional knitwear with its bulky seams is uncomfortable, and possibly even painful for those with sensitive skin.
With WHOLEGARMENT you no longer have to experience that discomfort.
NO WASTE
一着まるごと編み立てる、ホールガーメントニットは
パーツの縫製やリンキングなどの工程が格段に減り
従来のセーターと比べ、工程間の時間ロスなどがなく、より早く仕上がります。
また、従来のカットソーは30％ほどの端材がでていましたが、
ホールガーメントニットは、生地をカットする必要もないので
原料のロスもたった数％と格段に削減されます。
それらを踏まえると、地球にやさしいニット技術といえます。
The Wholegarment machine knits the sweater in the shape of a three-dimension, so there is no need to cut it,
which has the advantage of reducing the loss of raw yarn and production cost in the manufacturing process.
